Pressing is where a good transfer becomes a great, durable print. Time, temperature, and pressure all matter — and they change by fabric.
General DTF Press Settings
A common starting point is around 300–320°F for 10–15 seconds with medium-firm pressure, followed by a peel (hot or cold depending on your film) and often a second “post-press” for durability.
By Fabric
- Cotton — handles higher heat well; standard settings.
- Polyester / performance — use lower temperature and shorter time to avoid scorching and dye migration.
- Blends — split the difference; test first.
- Nylon / waterproof — low temp, quick press, firm pressure.
Post-Press for Durability
After peeling, cover the print with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press again for a few seconds. This melts the design into the fibers for a softer feel and better wash resistance.
