Beyond standard full-color transfers, DTF technology powers a range of specialty effects and applications that help your products stand out. Here’s an overview of what’s possible — and what to know before you print or order it.
Special-effect transfers
- Neon / fluorescent: ultra-bright colors that pop under normal and UV light — great for events, sportswear, and youth apparel.
- Glow-in-the-dark: charges under light and glows in the dark; fun for parties, safety, and novelty designs.
- Metallic & foil-look: gold, silver, and metallic finishes for a premium, eye-catching look.

UV DTF for hard goods
UV DTF is a different animal from apparel DTF. Instead of heat-pressing onto fabric, UV-DTF stickers apply to hard surfaces with pressure — no heat needed. Use them to decorate:
- Mugs, tumblers, and drinkware
- Glass, acrylic, and plastic
- Wood, metal, and painted surfaces
- Phone cases, bottles, and promo items
They’re durable, full-color, and let you brand items a heat press can’t touch.
Single-color & heat-transfer-style
For simple one-color logos and lettering, single-color DTF gives a clean, economical result — a modern alternative to traditional vinyl.
What to know before you order specialty
- Application may differ. Puff, foil, and UV-DTF can need different temperatures, pressures, or (for UV) no heat at all — always follow the spec for that product.
- Design considerations. Some effects favor bold shapes and lettering over fine photographic detail.
- Test first. As with all DTF, run a test and a wash test before a big run.
- Substrate matters for UV-DTF — smooth, clean hard surfaces work best.
